WHAT WE INSPECT
Full-Scope Commercial Vehicle Inspections
As a VicRoads Licensed Vehicle Tester, BCSC conducts roadworthy and safety inspections that meet National Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual (NHVIM) standards.
We inspect:
• School buses and charter coaches
• Route buses and minibuses
• Light rigid and medium rigid trucks
• Heavy rigid trucks
• Trailers and semi-trailers
• Foton trucks (Authorised Dealer)
• Commercial vans and fleet vehicles
WHAT THE INSPECTION COVERS
A heavy vehicle roadworthy inspection checks the critical safety systems of your vehicle:
• Braking system — service brakes, park brake, brake lines and components
• Steering — free play, linkages, power steering operation
• Suspension — springs, airbags, shock absorbers, bushings
• Wheels and tyres — tread depth, condition, correct rating for vehicle weight
• Lights and electrical — headlights, indicators, brake lights, reflectors, wiring
• Body and chassis — structural integrity, rust, damage, cabin security
• Engine and drivetrain — leaks, mounts, exhaust emissions
• Windscreen and wipers — visibility, damage, wiper operation
• Seatbelts and safety equipment — condition and operation
This is a safety inspection, not a full mechanical assessment. If we find defects during the inspection, we'll explain what's needed and can quote on repairs.
FOR BUS OPERATORS
Bus Roadworthy Inspections — Compliance Without the Hassle
Bus operators have strict compliance obligations under the Heavy Vehicle National Law. A missed or failed inspection doesn't just mean a defect notice — it can mean vehicles off the road, passengers stranded, and your accreditation at risk.
BCSC understands the urgency. We schedule bus inspections to minimise downtime, provide clear reporting on defects, and can turn around repairs quickly to get your bus back in service.
Whether you run one school bus or a fleet of charter coaches — we keep your compliance current.
FOR FLEET OPERATORS
Fleet Inspection Programs
Managing inspections across a fleet of vehicles is a compliance headache. BCSC offers scheduled inspection programs for fleet operators — we track what's due, book vehicles in, and keep your records straight.
Under Chain of Responsibility, every party in the transport chain shares responsibility for vehicle safety. Partnering with a licensed inspection facility like BCSC helps you demonstrate compliance with your obligations.
